Project: 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco

SFACOC_grantee-story“Viewers of the 34th America’s Cup experienced not only the thrill of the race but the magnificent natural beauty of San Francisco Bay and shoreline, and breathtaking vistas of the city skyline. The legacy in San Francisco is permanent improvement to its historic waterfront, a new cruise ship terminal to greet visitors, and creation of miles of new pedestrian and bike routes. More young people are involved in sailing as a result of a major investment by America’s Cup in the Treasure Island Sailing Center, specifically in its programs serving low-income youth. Holding America’s Cup in San Francisco also forever changed the world’s oldest trophy competition – making it accessible for public viewing from the shoreline for the first time and garnering unprecedented television coverage and fan engagement.”
