“When the Herbst Theater announced an extended closure for renovations, we needed a new space for City Arts & Lectures events. We identified Nourse Auditorium in the former High School of Commerce in the heart of the performing arts center. It is a beautiful beaux-arts building from 1927, but sitting empty for years. We had an amazing response to our campaign to refurbish the Nourse, and the gift from the John & Marcia Goldman Foundation was one of the most generous. As a result, we’ve nearly doubled our seating capacity and the theater is being used by numerous arts organizations.”
